Auto Rostering FAQs

What is Auto Rostering?

Auto Rostering is the synchronization of staff, student, and section information from your provisioned rostering method to your Kiddom rosters. Rosters are generally read-only but can allow for some manual changes.

What are the benefits of auto-rostering?

It streamlines the process of capturing and reflecting updates to your rosters, daily. This feature not only saves precious time for you and your educators but also ensures a seamless experience by automatically creating, updating, and managing roster data throughout their entire lifecycle within Kiddom.

What are the limitations when auto rostering?

  • Staff will not be able to manually add, edit or delete* students.
  • Staff will not be able to add, edit, or delete collaborators (other teachers).
  • Staff will not be able to edit the following fields for provisioned sections in Class Info Settings: Class Name, Subject and Grade Level.

All rostering changes need to be made in the provisioned sync source in order to update in Kiddom. Making any manual change will not be saved when the next sync occurs.

*manually deleting students from the Kiddom rosters is available once they are removed from the sync source. See more detail here.

Can I combine integrations to utilize the pass back feature?

To enable assignment and grade pass back to a specific platform, rostering must be done directly through that platform. For example, if grade pass back to Schoology is needed, rostering must occur via Schoology rather than through another sync source like Clever.

Can teachers create a new class in Kiddom outside the sync source?

Yes, teachers can manually create new classes in Kiddom outside of the provisioned sync source and add students through the class-code. These classes will be like our regular classes with all the features enabled. Teachers can add or remove users, and edit class info settings (including class name, grade, and subject).

It's important to note that these classes will no longer be managed by the provisioned sync source. Best practice is to have your primary classes come from the nightly sync so they are up-to-date daily. We encourage you to use the manual class creation option if you are trying to group certain students together for extra support. Please confirm if your School or District leaders are ok with this.
