Why are New Students Not Automatically Added to Existing Assignments?

To ensure students entering your class midway through the year have an easier time transitioning, you may notice their Timeline doesn't include all assignments you've shared for the semester. If you added a new student to a class with preexisting assignments, they will not automatically have access to those assignments.

If you still want the student to complete older assignments, we recommend you share these assignments directly with them. To add an individual student to an assignment:

  1. Locate the assignment in your Planner
  2. Click the 3-dot button
  3. Click "Edit Info"
  4. In the "Assign to" section, click on the pencil icon
  5. Select the student you want to add to the assignment and click "Done"

Now, the student has been added to the assignment and will be able to access it from their Timeline! Please note that you will need to do this for each assignment that you want to add them to.
